my buddy traded his 89 mr2 with a jdm motor for this 87 rx7 with the 13b turbo'd motor with full exhaust, turbo timer, and rims.. about a month later the car started to blow white smoke.. he took it to a shop and they told him the water seals are bad and he should get a rebuild.. he is willing to sell me the car for 800 bucks... would it be better to rebuild this motor or to buy a new one? thanks

Complete rebuild kit costs about a shy of $1,000.

Rebuilt...you can find it for about $2,000 ish.

Take your pick ;)

Tires good? and the rest of the vehicle? I'd offer him $500.

the car also has LSD and intake.. well he is not going to do anything with the car expect sell it.. so if i pick it up then ill rebuild it.. hes a good friend and will probably hook me up for cheap. so a rebuild with those 3mm apex seals would be about a grand? would the car be decently quick or would i need to upgrade/modify some items (after the rebuild)?

I don't know about 3mm apex seals... I have a slight reservation with it. And again...that's just me.

Contact Atkins for rebuild kit! They even have "how to" tape or dvd ;)
Tell Mrs. Atkins that black rocket sent you :)
