I have an 88 gtu with stage 2 porting. I have this issue where at 4000 rpms the engine hesitates for a moment, and then again at about 4800 rpms. Any suggestions? The only thing I can even figure is the secondary air intake port actuators are malfunctioning-but then wouldn't the hesitation only happen once?

have you checked your timing

It may be due to the grouding of the MAF, its a common problem often between 3800-4000rpm but it can happen at othere rpm's.
I think there is a FAQ in the stickied section about this actualy.

Best of luck

my car does this as well. these rotary engines aree strange. I have an 88 SE and just put tons of money into all the body work it looks brand new but i have clutch issues, stalling in corners issues as well as hesitation at 4000 rpms its pissing me off! I do know i have a air sensor disconnected that i need to reconnect its always been hanging since i bought the car and plus maybe i should check my timing.... If you find anything else message me please and thank you.
