First of all let me Welcome you to the RX7Forums. This is a thread dedicated to those of you who sign up and want to introduce yourself.
If you want you could post pics of your car or just simply state which vehicle you own and mods. I guess since I started it, I should start. Well
my name is Martin and I have owned several rx7's in the past. I owned a 91 TII, 90 gxl, and I currently own an 88 vert with TII convertion. Right now I'm conducting a 13bre swap and could provide some info on the TII swap if needed. Well I guess its your turn now, and please help us spread the word of the site.

I currently own an 81 Malibu w/a 350 swap, as well as a nitroused Neon coupe. Mods lists are about a mile long on both. I'm picking up a 1979 RX7 w/ 12a in the next couple of weeks, as soon as time permits.

Oh, I forgot about this thread.
1987 Turbo II. Getting ready to put an s5 turbo and manifold onto it, and replace the radiator. Just finished with cleaning out my engine and intake, and removing all emissions equipment. Right now I'm looking at 205HP and I should be hitting 300 in a few months. By this time next year the goal is 430.

Shaggy
04-16-2004, 12:44 AM
Nice..what do you got in it right now??

AusTexRex
04-16-2004, 05:48 AM
550 primary 720 secondary injectors, toned down to stock duty cycle. basically everything is restored stock equipment with a little special modifications like removing the secondary throttle plates and fast idle cam from the throttle body. and switching out all pinch clamps to screw clamps (big different in intake and boosting when your car is 17 years old) and a lot of maintenance work as is. I'm waiting on the s5 turbo to come in and then it goes on, and then all I need is the computer. After that.. 300 will take a week, and after that it just depends on how much money I have really.
The past few months have just been getting a stable base to build off of, and reconditioning everything.

How did you get them to run stock duty cycle ??? low or high imp.?? Its gunna take more than injectors and s5 turbo to get you in the 300hp range. Trust me with small street port, front mount, boosting 8psi on a
62-1 turbo I got 297 it took me 10 psi to make 318 hp. 10psi on a 62-1 turbo is like 20 on a s5 turbo. but foget about gettin close to 300 on the stock intercooler.. your first run might be like 250 and then 230 and it keeps going down.

They are running stock duty cycle through the use of high and low impedence resistors depending on primary or secondary.
Naturall I understand that a computer, larger injectors, and an s5 turbo will hit the 400 mark. My first post was a quick "letter of intent" shall we say. Here's the plan:
To reach 400 I'm going to need at much bigger injectors this I know. computer will take care of this as well as many other things.
Porting manifolds
3" exhaust
s5 Turbo will be sent off to BNR for the stage 4 turbo modifications where most of the power will be coming from
front mount with a reverse hood scoop to get better airflow
V mount the FMIC and radiator.
switch to an E-Fan when I need the extra space.
Cold Air Intake
That's just the basic idea, keep pushing more air and fuel in there until I reach 400. If it takes more than that so be it. I've got the time.

I have a saving for my rebuild right now. Looking at high compression low weight rotors with a bridge port on the engine. Bridge port is going to be professionally done the rest of it I am going to rebuild myself.

Shaggy
04-27-2004, 03:16 AM
Hey Aus...how much is this all going to cost you??

AusTexRex
04-27-2004, 05:18 PM
Hey Aus...how much is this all going to cost you??
My first born child.

All of the peripheral parts and support parts including suspension, wheels, and exterior stuff is going to end up running me a good 6-8 grand depending on how much of it I don't fuck up on the first time around. The computer stuff I need someone to help me with so it may end up costing more.
The engine on the otherhand... the new rotors and bridge port. I might end up needing a new housing in which case I might not even stick with the 13BT. But the engines makeover will cost upwards of 4k
This is all going to take me a few years and a lot of money.

Shaggy
04-27-2004, 11:26 PM
Now what car are you doing all this stuff on...the one in your avatar?

2ROTORMOTOR
04-28-2004, 03:00 AM
I dont know if you want to use highcomp rotors with boost but w.e its up to you.... trust me on a stock engine is not that easy to get to 400 hp or many people wouldve done it by now.. I gave you my example with the mods and numbers that I was able to get... O and about the computer, the best investment you could get is a stand alone with the preassembled harness, it will save you alot of time.. and the stock turbo pisses me off. instead of upgrading buy a bigger turbo with ext wga. more fuel and air is the idea to make power, but its not that simple on a stock motor. so im assuming that you are planning the 400hp for the rebuilt engine. But anyways good luck

Correct you are on the engine, and thank you for your input. The BNR Stage 4's numbers are impressive enough for me right now. But we'll see. There's a lot to be done and trouble shot as I go along.

I had an 89 TII, but sold it for collage. I just recently realized that was the biggest mistake of my life. I'm now looking for another to buy. I love all rotary vehicles, and plan on using this forum, along with mine alot. I no longer use nopistons, or rx7club.com, because I just simply can not stand the members.

Anyways, that's me!

hey i just signed up here and i'm startin to like these forums. I am currently only 17 so im working for my license and car but i've always been into cars or should i say driving since i was a little kid. go-karts were always my most favorite and still are, when i first got into a go-kart around age 8, my desire to race and go fast began to bloom. i've also liked rx-7's for a while also, there is a white FC in my area that i always have seen since i was little and that was the car i always taught was the koolest. Since i dont have a car yet i guess u can call me a wanabe but i sorta have a car, my dad owns a really old Chevrolet station wagon back from the 70's i belive. its old but still runs and feels comfortable :]

Hey, how's it going.
Just decided to sing up after seeing a thread on automotiveforums made by FDTT.
Little about myself? Total jackass, out and out idiot, and..well that about sums it up. No pictures of the car yet but I'll try to snap a few tomorow when I put my acc cable on.
The car itself is a 87 GXL with a turbo 6port just begging to to get blown. 3" racing beat down pipe to a 2.25" catless cat to a 2.5" ypipe to stock TII mufflers, I know up down up down but I'm working on it.
If the motor holds a few dyno passes and runs down the track and some solo II Then I might have to upgrade the snail and run a stand alone to hurry the process of explosion along.

What just bought my 94 RX7 2 months ago. Its completely Stock and only had 24k when I a bought. Had a 350Z, but totalled it(not my fault, I got hit). The FD was my first love. I wanted this car before the 350Z, but I couldn't find one in good condition or stock, but now i have it. I'm from Chicago. First, I don't anything about rotary except its a tiny ass engine, but its powerful as hell. So if anyone has any advice for me, thank you in advance. If anyone makes fun of me for not knowing anything about rotary, Eat $hit and Go to H3LL in advance. Thats why I joined this site, to know about RX7s. Peace Out.

I'm steve here, from regina, saskatchewan, canada. I've owned a few rx7's before( 1 sa, 4fb's, and so far, 1 fc) The fc I got currently is an 86 GX, with an s5 turbo engine/trans swap, just installed my 255 walbro today, and will try to get my FMIC mounted sometime in the next couple weeks. Pics will come, as soon as I have some. But for a $1k cnd for a running/driving car, I'm not complaining.

:P well my name is Rodolfo but everyone call me Rudy. been into FC's since i first laid eyes on Initial D mangas. I currently own a 87 base model, hoping to keep it NA for a while and go with a carb set-up and what now, while still trying to become competitive in drifting... maybe i should go 3-rotor. Anyways, yup that's what I'm into, NA performance and drifting, WSIR Balcony(FTW).

Hey there! I'm Sean and I live in southern Alberta. Don't own an RX7 yet but I'm looking at one again so I'm reading my ass off.
The car I'm hoping to get is a turbo FC, an 86 i believe. 50 000kms (a little over 30 000 miles) on rebuilt engine, nearly new suspension, exhaust isn't stock but I can't recall at the moment what exactly was done. Has an SAFC2. Some other stuff maybe. I'd have to look it up.

She's real purty though, and I'm thinking will be a bit more fun than my little S10. My last sports car was a modded 94 Eagle Talon TSi so I'm no stranger to cars that need a little more care than the average.

I love cars that have their own little cult/community so I'm very excited for my first rotary ;)

hey im not sure how to work this web site ha but it said you were a senior member so i was wondering if maybe you would be able to help me figure out what is wrong with my car.......i just recently bought a 1981 rx7 gsl when i bought the car it seemed to run fine but it had a leak in the water pump housing....i replaced the water pump and had to take off the air pump cuz i broke the adjusting bolt but i fixed that and put the air pump back on and while doing that i broke the blue relief silanoid valve by leaning on it.... i went to to the junk yard and found a new one to replace it but now the car will not idle and i get a little bit of backfireing could you help??

My name is Anthony. I've been an auto tech for about 11 yrs. now. Mostly Toyota/Lexus/Honda/Acura, and Mazdas. (Mostly Miatas) I was also with Chevrolet for 5 yrs.
Anyways, my neighbor refered me to a friend of his who owns a 93 RX7, all stock, 121k, automatic, and a 1.3L (13BTT?) His plans are to do build the car in stages, and do some autocross events.
I hope to get some input from your site, since I'm very new to this type of car. Thanks!

I had to shut the site down as bugs basically destroyed pertinent info and just didn't have time. It is true cking other sites to see how crazy fellow rotorheads are LOL, particullarly one Aussie site I'm a member of. Have you encounter with a guy named Sharkey from Australia? I'm Webster, I'm from Kansas, and I just got my first Rx7 a couple of weeks ago.

I'm new to the forum but not to rotaries. I have grown up along with a 1993 RX7 which my dad owns. He bought it new from the dealership, and has put only 7,xxx miles on it since. When I was a lot younger I called it the "red sports car."

I seem to have a thing for unusual cars, because my first car (now garage queen) was a 1992 Subaru SVX LS-L. My dad and I restored it, and now I am always worried about stupid people around me hurting it. So I had to buy a new Daily driver for school. Ended up getting a 1989 gxl with 145,xxx. the engine had been rebuilt and ported at about 110,000. My plan is to restore this one eventually, but drive the crap out of it until that happens.

Hello,

I'm joined the forum to learn and I'm in the market to purchase an rx7 (3rd gen). I'm not new to Mazda, I currently own an 07' Speed3 (so yes I'm addicted to boost) My speed3 is basically stage1 at the moment and I have a lot of future plans for it. Nothing crazy because its my daily driver (lets just say ultimate sleeper)... Anyway I would like to find a 3rd gen rx7 with no mods or very few mods to keep it in its original condition as much as possible.

I attached a photo of my speed3

Thanks!

I soon hope to have a rotary!

My name is Bob, and I'm in Hillsboro (Portland) Oregon. I'm an ASE certified Master Auto, Master Truck, Master Auto Body and Master Machinist. I work as a "Vehicle Inspector", verifying mechanical damage failures for warranty companies, end of lease and used vehicle inspections on heavy equipment, semis...
I'm an old school (RWD) Toyota fanatic, especially Celicas powered by the 20/22R/RE, and the last of the Coronas.

I now have an '82 RX7 GSL as well. I acquired it for the great price of free! I'd been the mechanic on it for over a year, helping out the owner who is a good friend of my daughters. She finally got a Subi, as she'd been wanting one for quite some time, and two hours later was in an accident before she even got insurance. She asked me if I could get it road worthy, and I jokingly said "Yeah, but by the time I finish with that and all the work I've done on the RX7, you can just give me the RX7." Half an hour later, she texted me and said "My parents said that is a great idea!" (It was her parents car - gift to her.)
I drove it for a while and LOVE it - it's like a little go-cart! I have now "loaned" it to one of my daughters to drive until she can get herself something - but she's fallen in love with it, even though it only gets about 15 MPG around town and 20 on the freeway. It has Konigs and 205/50R15 BFG Comp T/As, a header, Magnaflow cat, some porting, some weak-ass lowering springs, KYBs and... I don't know what all.

My daily driver is an '81 Toyota Corona wagon. It's chassis is almost identical to the Celica of the same years (1" longer wheel base), so I've upgraded to 3rd gen Celica ('82-'85) strut tubes that are shortened with AGX 4x adjustable struts, coilover springs and have upgraded to '87-'88 Cressida rotors and calipers. It has an Addco Supra sway bar (28mm), all urethane bushings, boxed 3rd gen Celica lower control arms, RCAs (roll center adjusters), camber plates... The rear end is the bigger 7.5" (Celicas/Coronas got a 6.7") out of a Mk I ('79-'81) Supra (SRA) with disc brakes and an LSD. The wagon is the only Celica/Corona that got leaf springs, so I've pulled three factory leafs and put in two sets of Hilux pickup overload springs, upside down, which lowered and stiffened the rear. The rear shocks are AGXs, 8x adjustable for a Camaro. I had a built "hybrid" 20/22R (20R head on a 22R block) motor, but lunched it, so it is currently running an almost stock 20R. It has a mildly ported and shaved head with oversize SS valves and a TRD stage 1 cam, along with all of my bolt-ons from the old motor - Cannon intake with a Weber 32/36, Thorley Tri-Y header, Magnaflow cat, Dynomax "Bullet" glasspack after the cat and a Borla turbo type muffler at the back, MSD 6A box and blaster coil, 140 amp GM CS144 alternator, umm, I don't know what all else I may be missing. It also has 3rd Gen Celica GT-S / Mk II Supra seats - made by Recaro - VERY comfortable! It has Cressida 15” wheels and BFG “Pro Touring” 205/60R15s, soon to be upgraded to an ultra-high performance all season (BFG Comps, Kuhmo, Toyo…)

I also have 4 (yes, four) Celicas in my shop. My ’78 ST Coupe, my ex-wife’s ’79 ST, my youngest daughters ’79 ST, and my (one of 4,148) ’85 GT-S convertible (my ex has one also). I also have the back half of both an ’83 GT-S Liftback (it wasn’t worth rebuilding) and an ’85 GT-S coupe that will become a trailer for my convertible.

Hey, everyone! I'm from Austin. I own RX-7 95 red monster which I bought this year to cheer myself up during the pandemics and it was one of the best decisions in my life. ;)
