This forum has very little traffic. You will have more responses if you post your questions and concerns on rx7club.com or rotarycarclub.com. I do not have a 3rd gen. but a surging idle is most likely the tps sensor.

To address the question about carbon build up: Any car that has been sitting for 3 years needs the fuel system addressed (Gas Tank boiled and sealed, fuel filter change, and possibly even the injectors serviced) before starting it.

When the A/C is on, what RPMs is it idling at?

I'm figuring when the a/c comes on, its not really idling since the a/c puts a load on the engine. Just as if you were to hit the gas lightly and hold it at a certain rpm. Let me know if it makes sense, I'm terrible at explaining things.

figured out the problem! mass air flow was unplugged hahahaha

LunchboxCritter 09-21-2011 04:47 AM

lol, you are not the first that has been the problem. The 2nd gen's won't start and act like they are flooded or out of gas. <~ ask me how I know..... lol

haha ya i figured it out 200$ later turns out all the mechanic did was plug it in
