Default starter??
my '88 'vert has always started just fine, and did the other morning when i was taking it out of the garage to clean it a little. after the cleaning, went to start it and it just clicked. figured it was a bad ground maybe or a bad battery. i removed and cleaned all the battery/ground wires...didn't help. removed the battery and took it to two places and had it checked, it was good. put it back in and still just clicking, but after charging it for about an hour, the motor would just barely turn over, but not fast enough to start. the lights are bright and don't even dim much when i try to start it. i pulled the starter today and will take it to a starter rebuild place tomorrow and have it checked out and rebuilt if necessary. just wondering if anybody has any other suggestions?
thanks, Dutch

the rebuilt one is still sitting on the floorboard of my Explorer! it's been so damn hot here, i'm waiting for a break in the weather and that's suppose to be tomorrow. i'll let you know, but the guy at the shop did say the solenoid was bad. i've had these guys do work before and they are good and imo, you can't beat the price. new one was $99. at Auto Zone and Advance Auto, they charged me $50 and i always like to put my old starter back when i can anyway, know it will work without shims.
