Car has a very hard time starting now! help!
I have an 86 n/a rx7 with 46k miles on the engine. I was driving home last night and the hose that goes to the intake manifold busted, the cars temp went up very quickly so I turned off the car right away and fixed the hose. I let the car cool down, added coolant and tried to drive home. The temp started to rise so I turned it off and added more coolant. I got the car home but now its having a hard time starting. I did manage to get it started and its smoking a lot and smells sweet so I fear the coolant seals are gone.

are you sure you dont mean the uper rad hose. and how hot did u get it cos that sounds like a blowen water seal . i would do a coolent presure test, and comp test will your at it

It was probably the upper radiator hose, it was just below the H before I turned it off. When I turn it over the coolant bubbles. I've been burping it to get the air out. I will see if I can get the pressure and comp test done soon.

Sry to hear. Ck your oil and see if you see coolant got into the lubricant system. Pull the dipstick and examine oil texture, smell, etc. And, I must agree your coolant seal maybe comromized.
|
Yea I checked the oil a while ago and it doesn't seem like coolant is in there. Also checked the coolant overflow and I don't see any oil, just looks a little dirty.

I read thru again and I believe its a coolant hose supply coolant through TB. There are, obviously inlet & outlet and ck the base of TB. Ck them to see if hoses there leaking as they are difficult to detect, if in fact leaking.
|
So you believe that the top coolant hose to the TB is what's causing the issue? how should i go about checking them? When it was running last night I pulled the dip and there was what looked like water but the oil doesn't look diluted.

Spark plugs are wet so I'm dropping the motor today
