apex seals and porting
im interested in getting a 3g, the cars i am looking at (2) both have street ported motors and 3mm apex seals... im new to the concept of rotories but i know apex seals go out. someone explain porting and apex seals to me in deatail please.
Porting limiting to street is good...
And I hear good claim with streetport & 2mm apex combo is more reliable. 3mm apex seals have been in controversy in terms of adverse housing damage effect more so than performance that it claims.. |
Porting expands your intake and exhaust ports to a larger size than normal allowing more air to flow.
Larger apex seals supposedly seal against the rotor housing "better", conversely I've heard that they damage the rotor housings, and can go out a lot easier. I don't know a lot about the size of teh seals themselves. |
So what do you 2 recommend as the best sized seal...2mm??
As AusT said 3mm was to "sweep" thru rotor housing tighter to give more compression but in that process also jeopadizes housing damage...:(
both of the cars i am looking at have street port/3mm apex seals. on has 8k miles, other has 9k miles. now im debating if i should.
If the prices are low enough, they'll last you long enough to warrant getting them now.
they both want 20k. one of them is sold :( theone i wanted more... it had Jspec front and back vielside skirts. it was sexy. volk wheels.. sexy
the other one looks stock. but is faster 20k tho man... im thinkin supra. idk |
supra for 20k? Unless your getting the older ones. Can you get supras for that cheap in the states? (im talking about 1993's and above)
