What are the chances...
 

... of getting some sponsors to either donate or discount parts for Project FB? I know it's an old car, and not terribly popular, but it's unique. Surely that's gotta count for something!

Thanks to other connections, I can pick up a sponsor or two already, but I'm looking for more RX7-specific performance parts (i.e. Racing beat.) This way, I can afford to try out new things and compare products.

So Jay..what your asking is that if there is anyone out there that we give you parts?

I don't know any performance parts co. that would....but I hope you can find some...and when you do, let me know..;)

Lots of campies would give me parts if it was a 1986 Honda Civic Si. :(

Aside from Racing Beat, I can't think of any companies actively making parts for the FB. Having no competition doesn't really make them friendly to sponsorships. :(

on an older car its definately hard to get sponsored. Specially if the car is stock. And it'll be pretty hard gettin sponsored especially since theres hardly any request for performance parts for fb's. Usually when a company sponsors a car, they want to show the public what they got to offer and usually a image is necessary to make the people wanna buy their product. In other words, if your car aint a straight out show car, its hard to get a company to sponsor you. Sorry

Nah, the car won't be a show car. It'll be a straight-out drift car. I figure w/ drift finally catching on in the States, that might get me a brownie point or two, at least w/ companies that make shocks, coilovers, tires, brakes, etc.

It'll start stock, but I doubt there'll be a single original piece left by this time next year. Somehow, all my cars seem to end up like that. ::shrugs::

Ahwell... if I can't get anyone to play in my Reindeer Games, I'll just build it myself. As it looks right now, I can get 'er done w/ 5k.

Slim to none. You'd have an infinitely easier time getting a sponsor with an FC or FD. FB's are just too run of the mill oldschool for them to care. Plus they're all scared of rotary engines since pistonheads everywhere slammed it with accusations of unreliability. I'm sorry are our engines too efficient for you?

What car would b a good one for sponsors?

It would be hard enough to get a sponsor for a 3rd gen, since its been out for a long time.. I guess a good car would be the 350z, is300, celica, wrx and imprezza. Other than that companies arent really interested in old school cars...

Depends on the company. Getting a sponsor for an rx7 wouldn't be too hard as long as he had a nice one and contacted a rotary specialist company or someone specializing in mazda's. Being sponsored by a normal performance shop wouldn't be likely.
